Blinded Ignorance

It’s our ignorance
That blinds us
From the truth.

Distorting it
Along the spectrum
Of ‘self-preservation’,
Limited by the boundaries
Of our knowledge…
A result of narcissism.

We think we know
But we have
No fucking idea…
Only seeing what
We want to see.

Too ignorant to see
That which we choose not
To comprehend.
Too entitled to attempt
Understanding
That which is beyond
Our scope of perception.

So many missed opportunities,
All due to our stubbornness
To see pass…
Beyond what we think we know.

We blind ourselves
Making it easier to
Accept that which is false,
As long as it fits
Within our level comfort.

If only we took the time…
